TRAVELING
Maha Sarakham is about 475 kilometres North-East of Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, and can be reached by bus, van or airplane.
Note: Bangkok has 2 airports – BKK (Suvarnabhumi) and DMK (Don Mueang). If planning to fly domestically from Bangkok to Khon Kaen, then your international and domestic flights should both use the same terminal (for convenience and simplicity).
From Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok to Maha Sarakham
Option 1: Domestic Flight to Khon Kaen (roughly $30-40, 1 hour) (easy)
Thai Airways domestic flights leave from Suvarnabhumi Airport. Your flight will be to Khon Kaen, and we’ll have a bus ready to bring you to Maha Sarakham.
Complimentary Pickup (From Khon Kaen)
We will provide bus pickup at the Khon Kaen airport on 30th October. We will collect you in Khon Kaen airport at the 8am arrival flights.
Make sure to choose a domestic flight that matches our bus pickup time.
Complimentary Drop Off
We will take you to the Khon Kaen airport for the evening flight (8.15pm take off) on 1st October.
Option 2: VIP Bus (roughly 500 baht/$17, 6 hours)
Buses to Maha Sarakham leave from the New Mochit Bus Terminal, 1.5 km from Mochit BTS (Train) station in Bangkok. You can get to Mochit by BTS (train) or van.
Option 2.1: BTS to New Mochit Bus Terminal
Travel from the airport BTS terminal to Phaya Thai, then change-over to the Mochit line and travel to Mochit. You must take a short taxi ride from Mochit BTS Terminal to New Mochit Bus Terminal.
Option 2.2: Van to Mochit Bus Terminal (easy)
Visit the information desk in the international airport terminal level 2 to order a van and ask them to go to New Mochit Bus Terminal. A van costs approximately 2000 baht for up to 7 passengers.
From Don Mueang Airport in Bangkok to Maha Sarakham
Option 1: Domestic Flight to Khon Kaen (roughly $30-40, 1 hour) (easy).
Air Asia domestic flights leave from Don Muang Airport, your flight will be to Khon Kaen, and we’ll have a bus ready to bring you to Maha Sarakham.
Complimentary Pickup
We will provide bus pickup at the Khon Kaen airport on 30th October. We will collect you in Khon Kaen at the 8.30 am arrival flights.
